Description

The STC is an electronic controller for DC motor driven throttle valves. It is designed to work in parallel with an S series engine ECU providing a multitude of safety features recognising the multiple number of potential failures of individual components.

The STC is an elegant solution for fitting a standalone engine management system to a newer car that runs Drive By Wire (DBW).

Usually when confronted with an electronic throttle system people will tend to simply replace them with a cable throttle. This is perfectly fine if done properly, and pretty easy if the vehicle in question comes in a cable throttle flavour from the factory. A potentially dangerous situation arises when there is no "proper" cable option, and people use cheap throttles, bodged pedal assemblies and badly routed cables. The STC is an intrinsically safe means of controlling the throttle angle with all of the, perfectly safe, original equipment provided by the factory.

It also allows Idle control to be handled without taking up an output on the ECU, expanding the available inputs and also providing a much smoother and more precisely controlled idle. Rolling idle in particular is noticably improved with a properly tuned DBW system.

When in use the ECU and STC are provided with two TPS signals, of which both analyse to check for any error. They are also in constant communication via a CAN link, and any difference in angle here (the difference is user settable, and also has the option to allow the error to be exceeded for a short time, for lazy throttles) results in limp mode.

There is option to use an automatic throttle blip on down changes, either via a simple switch or via an input from a sequential gearbox controller.

Any errors thrown are reported via a flashing LED to the driver. Once set up the unit is rock solid, and very reliable.

This kit comes with a ready pinned splice in wiring loom. You will need a programming cable if you do not already have one.
