Super lightweight solid crank pulleys

Aimed at sub ~450-500hp setups, these solid billet aluminium lightweight crank pulleys free up the engine from both inertial weight and parasitic drag from driving the alternator as fast (and A/C if you are retaining that). On setups below the 450hp region we have used these for years with no problems, and you can really feel the benefit on something fairly standard -> 350hpish, as the alternator and A/C add quite a lot of drag which soaks up a good bit of the available power.

The Standard pulley weighs just over 1.7kg, these are just 0.44kg. This allows the enigine to rev more freely, helping with downshift rev matching and general low gear accelleration, essentially a lesser but similar effect to lightening the flywheel.

They are also a smaller diameter than the standard pulley, so drive the alternator more slowly. This helps the alternator to survive at high rpm, and reduces the amount of effort required to drive it, so saving you power to go to the wheels instead. They have been sized to still drive the alternator hard enough at idle to keep the battery charged easily, no increased idle speeds are required. Same goes for the A/C Compressor if you elect to retian that.

 

 

 

We offer a few different packages to suit different setups, as listed below;

 

Under Drive Pulley Only, no belt

Under drive pulley with Billet Tensioner kit and belt - AKA the Air Con Delete kit - This kit requires you to retain the springy tensioner part of your original air con setup

Under drive pulley with belt for direct drive - Best used with an adjustable alternator bracket

Under drive pulley with belt for retaining A/C

 

 

For setups that are aiming beyond 450-500hp, we recommend to use a damped pulley (the standard pulley is not a bad option), as crank shaft harmonics can cause problems without the damping. For that setup we can provide the below kit;

It is for good reason that virtually every top professional engine builder relies on ARP Pro Series head studs for their all out competition engines. Simply stated, there's not a better stud setup on the market today.

ARP uses a premium grade 8740 alloy that is rated far superior to "aircraft" quality. Each stud is placed vertically in special racks and precisely heat treated to 200,000 psi. This procedure ensures complete and uniform heat penetration, giving far superior results to the more usual practice of placing them all in a basket and hoping for the best.

Following the heat treatment, each stud is centreless ground to make it as close to concentric as possible. This procedure involves about ten very slight cuts, and results in an exceptionally straight part to start from. They are then Thread Rolled which, due to being done AFTER the heat treatment, gives them around 2000% (20 times) better fatigue strength than studs that are threaded prior to heat treatment. It costs a lot more to do this way, because it is very tough on tooling, but the results are well worth the extra effort.

These ARP head studs have been specifically developed for the Vauxhall Z20 engines.

Full set including a sachet of ARP's assembly lube, for correct torquing.

ARP recommends the use of main studs over bolts whenever possible for several key reasons; First is the ability to obtain more accurate torque settings because the studs aren't being twisted into the blocks already-used-at-least-once threads. This also means that there is less force exerted on the blocks threads, which contributes to improved block life. The studs, being a slightly larger diameter than the fairly slack OEM bolts, ensure a more accurate alignment of the main caps.

All kits come with hardened and parallel ground washers and high quality nuts. They are manufactured from a special 8740 chrome moly steel, heat treated in house to 200,000 psi tensile strength, and then thread rolled precisely to the high tensile J-form spec to create a fastener 2000% stronger than others.

These ARP main studs have been specifically developed for the Vauxhall Z20 engines

Flywheel bolts play an important role in the performance and safety of race cars and street machines alike. That's why the fastener experts at ARP have developed special bolts that are far superiour to OEM hardware.

These premium grade Pro Series bolts are made from a material originally developed for NASCAR use, and have a tensile strength rating of 200,000 psi. They are forged from aerospace alloy and heat treated prior to thread rolling and machining. They feature an exclusive, low profile, 12-point head design and a slightly larger than OEM shank diameter for increased flywheel register.

Performance Cam Belt Kit

 

This uprated cambelt kit is built upon the Z20LEH kit, that includes one uprated steel idle roller on the exhaust side. It fits all the variants of Z20, the LET, LEH, LEL and LER.

We have replaced the intake side plastic roller with another uprated steel one. We find that the plastic rollers tend to make the belt degrade very quickly, along with themselves, which can be seen by pick up on both the roller and the belt after not too much running time.

With these steel rollers you do not get this pick up, and the rollers themselves will stand up to a lot more high rev abuse than their plastic counterparts.

We fit this kit to every engine we build now, as the more we looked at the rapid belt degredation, the more it worried us!

All parts are genuine GM, but we include a better bolt and lock washer for the tensioner, which doesn't have the silly shallow drive like the original.

This Flywheel is designed to replace the Dual Mass unit fitted standard to the Astra Vxr, and other Z20 engine M32 Gearbox Combo's in the Sri's etc.

Weighing around 5.4Kg these solid units will liven up your engine considerably. They also do away with the terrible detached feel given by the dual mass unit, giving a more positive driving experience. They also won't fall apart when you up the boost, like the standard ones do.

You can use this flywheel with a standard clutch, or the Helix clutches that we stock for the dual mass flywheel will also work with them, if you are going for 300hp or above.

Quality CNC machined and precision balanced, ready for fitment out of the box.
